The Secret To Using A Gold Refiner

By Leslie Griffith

If you want to cut on your expenses and refine your own gold at home, you can actually do so. There are jewelers who polish their own valuables. There are a lot of ways on how you can use a gold refiner. There are small scale standards you can use as long as you take note of important safety guidelines. Here are some tips on how to use a simple method.

For starters, the Gold must be melted thoroughly. You need to put the lump inside a melting vessel. Most of these pots are from graphite which is a good way to crush the mineral inside the melting container. Segregate this pot in an area that is noncombustible.

Force a torch on the stone. Point the flame at the jewel until it is completely dissolved. Pick up the pot using tongs for safety. Separate each of the minerals into smaller pieces and wait for them to harden. This method is called making shot out of the product. If you are purifying little pieces of jewelry, simply aim the fire on the stone so it will melt.

Select an appropriate instrument for all the jewelries you refined. For all the portions of products that you cleaned, prepare enough amount of content into the container. Try to find large pots that are shock proof.

Do not forget to wear protective uniform while doing this process. Put on rubber hand wear to keep acid from oozing into your skin. While handling different chemicals, put it on. An apron is useful for your garments and goggles to defend your eyes. Wear a face mask in order not to inhale harmful chemicals.

Put the containers outside where air can circulate. The solution that combines during this method produce is very strong and choking chemicals that are very dangerous to be inhaled. Pour nitric acid for every ounce of gold into the instruments. Allow the chemical to sit and react with the mineral for at least thirty minutes.

Add in hydrochloric for every ounce of product in the equipment. Leave the product overnight until all the of it has been dissolved. Pour the chemical into another big basin. See to it that the particles that you pour out does not contain the mineral. This will look clear with a tint of emerald green. If it looks murky, filter it using a funnel.

Heat up the substance with a part of urea solution and water until this comes to a boil. Add the portion to the solution. This will allow bubbles to appear when you put them together. As you pour it slowly, add a selective ingredient. Do not be near the opening because it emits very hazardous fumes while the experiment is ongoing.

Test the solution for any signs of dissolved products. A gold refiner will be used to detect the metal. Add a hint of solution to any towel. Place a drop of liquid on the area with the acid. If it changed in color to purple then give it more time to stay in the mineral.
