Ways TruckOperator Can StopBack Pain

By Max Crows

Many professional drivers consider themselves a unique breed. They spend long hours on the road. They have to know what is required of them on the road and this is inclusive of the commercial rules. If you're driving straight haul, the rules are fairly simple. If you are dealing with a refrigerator or some sensitive cargo like explosives and such, then the rules can somewhat be different. For this reason commercial truck drivers have to be especially adept at their work.

As mentioned above, these drivers spend long hours on the road. This means that they spend a long time on the road. This presents quite a challenge to your back and spine. It is quite common that truck drivers get to experience bouts of back pain. With that being said, how do truck drivers get to avoid back pain?

This is not only to truck drivers but also to the men that haul heavy cargo from the truck. One can stand to get some severe back ailments when you consider this. For this reason, there are some habits that they need to develop.

One of the most effective ways to alleviate a lot of this pain is to do stretching exercises to relieve those tight muscles. When you're driving muscles tend to get fixed and certain positions, and they build up tension causing the muscles to seize up. This is the source of most of the problems. Stretching is a sure remedy for this problem as the practice prevents the muscles from seizing up. This exercise should be done at every stop or when you are taking a meal.

You also need to consider muscle imbalance when dealing with back pain. This situation comes in when one muscle group becomes much stronger than the other making the other opposite muscle group comparatively weaker. You can remedy this problem by strengthening both groups of muscles.

You can also consider hydration. Spinal discs between each of the vertebrae are composed mostly of water, which is about 70%. While you are driving along or walking, the water is squeezed out of these vertebral discs. Considering this fact, you can get to lose as much as three quarters of an inch from your height. Keeping your body hydrated, by drinking plenty of water during the day, keeps these discs where they need to be, and that avoids a lot of back pain. Professional drivers like to say a glass of water for every hour you're on the road is an absolute necessity.

Keep your spine aligned by using a back support cushion therefore avoiding a lot of associated pain from an out of position spine. There are various support cushions that you can opt for with some customized to be used for long distance truck drivers. A majority of these cushions provide support as well as the padding.

The just a few of the things which you can do to help eliminate back pain while you're on the road.
