Florida Public Records Free Copy Online

By Ben Kingsley

The state of Florida Public Records is considered an open document that the residents can access anytime. This was done in accordance to the Freedom of Information Act which allows the residents of the state to take charge of their personal files and at the same time their safety and security.

The public documents of Florida are grouped into two categories: personal files and criminal reports. Records of birth, death, marriage and divorce are usually used to prove one's identity and status. Each of the documents has its own unique function. A good example for this is for insurance, one would need to secure a copy of a death certificate. Criminal records on the other hand are the source of information when conducting a background check.

With the document used in different functions, the information that can be found on each of the public document is also unique. This would mean that you cannot find information about the death of an individual in a marriage certificate. Details about one's death can only be seen on a death certificate. Criminal records then would have details about the offenses or charges filed against an individual. To make the document valid, all of the public documents of the state would contain the personal details of the person on the file such as the complete name and birth details.

It is important that one knows where to obtain a copy of a certain document. Records of birth, death, marriage and divorce are can only be obtained at the office of the Vital Records Section of Florida. The processing fee would depend on the type of file being obtained and it usually ranges from $5 to $20. To obtain a copy of a criminal record, it usually cost $20 and it has to be obtained at the office of the Department of Public Safety in Florida. The office of the county clerk and courthouse can also provide a copy of any of the personal documents and criminal record.

Although the documents are open to the public, the state of Florida only allows the person on the file and their immediate relatives to get a copy of the document. A special request has to be filed in order to gain access to the records of another individual. It is also important that the basic details of the document being obtained have to be provided during the search. One also has to indicate their contact details on the request form in order to proceed with the retrieval. This is especially true when obtaining a copy of a criminal record.

The Internet is now used as a medium to deliver information to the public. By using the Internet, getting a copy of any public document is hassle free and at the same time, one can save their time and energy in getting a copy of any of the public document of the state. One can even conduct a free government public records search using the trial services offered by some websites.
