How To Find A Good Hosted PBX Canada

By Marissa Velazquez

There are two types of phone systems, premise based ones and virtual ones. Hosted PBX Canada is a system that is used over an internet protocol. It is known as a Private Branch exchange in full, but in common language, people refer to it as a virtual PBX or Centrex. It has the same functionality as the traditional premise based system; only that most of the information is passed over a virtual network in the cloud.

These companies deal with the basic logistics like routing and switching of calls at a specific location. They also monitor, maintain and control all the machinery and software that is involved in offering the Centrex service. The phones here are connected via the internet to the physical servers of the service provider, so that all the information is virtually stored.

The premise based system solutions use a lot of in house equipment which need to be housed, monitored and maintained regularly. This is an expensive venture that most companies may find very inconveniencing. It also has other limitations like geographical inflexibility and it can only be used by a limited number of people.

When choosing a hosted service, you should ensure that all the important services are provided in the available packages. It would not make sense at all to get the services without the important functions like queuing and conferencing, even if it is a cheaper option. It would not do you any good, either, if they were offered at an extra cost.

This system is best suited for companies that do not plan on putting a lot of input in acquiring new infrastructure or expanding them in the long run. The initial costs as well as the overall costs that are associated with these procedures are quite high. All you need to do in Centrex systems is to spend resources in obtaining a new IP connection so that you can use the internet as your platform.

You should do a projection of how much you expect your company will grow in the coming years. This will greatly influence your decision to get a virtual PBX. Traditional systems are limited to the amount of people they can handle and also confine them to a particular location. The virtual system can be accessed from anywhere and it has the capacity to accommodate additional people.

You do not need to be specially trained to operate the virtual PBX. This is because it has a very user friendly web interface on the internet that makes it easier to get around and about. This gives you the freedom to change the settings and configure it according to your needs. In the corporate world, the ability to customize a system to suit your functionality is a big merit.

A very wise option would be to use the software for both systems in the office. This is done by peering the hosted PBX Canada to the on site servers. Therefore, the workers who work in the office are able to use the in house systems, while those at other locations can be able to use the hosted systems through their phones. This achieves better productivity.
