Simply In Shape - Tips For College Kids

By Franklin Skribbit

For most students, there simply isn't enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done. Unfortunately, exercise seems to be one of the last things to make it on the "to do" list. After the long hours of class, homework, work, and parties, they are simply too exhausted to even think about exercising. And doesn't all that running around count as exercise anyway? Well...sort of! If you are a super busy college student and need some help warding off those extra pounds, here are a few easy ways to stay fit while you're busy in school.

Whole Grains.

One of the sneakiest pitfalls to a student's health are those in-between class snacks. Rushing to the vending machine after class for a quick bite is really not the best thing for your health. This applies to at-home study snacks as well. When you go to the grocery store, stock up on some healthy snacks - baby carrots, low-fat string cheese, whole-grain crackers, or low-fat popcorn. Keep away from salty chips, sugary drinks, and candy bars.

Fish

An online class from San Marcos College lets the students read the materials at their own pace without having to listen to another person's interpretation of it. The students that learn best without needing to be taught are the ones that benefit most from online courses from San Marcos College.

Intramurals

Another great opportunity available to college students is intramural sports. These are like club sports, organized through the school, but for the purpose of having fun. Students will be able to feel the responsibility and comradely of teamwork without the pressure to excel professionally like other student-athletes.

Another under-appreciated food is Avocados. They are known for being a fatty vegetable, but fortunately, avocados contain monosaturated fats, the good kind. This type of fat will help your blood flow. This means better circulation, which leads to more nutrients and oxygen reaching your brain. More nutrients and oxygen mean better brain function.

If you don't have time to set apart for organized sports or even a workout session of your own, take advantage of your natural resources. You have to get to and fro from campus, the grocery store, parties, and so on. Instead of driving or taking the bus, walk or ride your bike whenever possible. This principle also applies to on-campus activities. Undoubtedly, you'll be faced with the choice of the elevator or stairs. Always take the stairs!

If something about the above list looks familiar, it's because these foods are found on almost all "healthy food" lists. Your brain is interconnected with your entire body. This means that foods that are good for your body are good for your brain. Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet is essential. Loading up on any one or two of the above listed foods will not skyrocket your brain capabilities into the stratosphere.

Contacting your professor and letting them know that you're ready to take the test could open it up for you. The role of a professor that's teaching an online class from San Marcos College is a strange one. They more or less occupy the position of moderating their students and grading the assignments they turn in. Communicating with your professor is your best bet at finishing the course at your desired speed.
