4 Of The Best-Selling Toys, By Robert Jain

By Jason McDonald

Whether you're shopping during the holidays or casually browsing the aisles of your local retailer, toys are among the hottest-selling products in the world. Action figures, dolls, and remote-controlled cars are just a few examples, but some of these products have sold better than others throughout the years. With this in mind, it may be worth discussing the toys that sold the best. Here are 4 of the best-selling names that Robert Jain can tell you about.

Silly Putty - If you live in North America and haven't even heard of this toy, you are in the minority. Not only has this toy been so popular that it moved over 300 million units, but it has proven its longevity as well. Keep in mind that the toy in question was developed in 1943 by an engineer who passed it along to others so that they may find a use for it. Since then, it has become a popular plaything at an affordable price.

Easy-Bake Oven - This is yet another story that has sold well throughout the decades. The Easy-Bake Oven was originally released by Kenner Products in 1963 and has since become a hit with children around the world. As the decades rolled on, the toy in question saw different redesigns to make it appear more modern. As far as financial success is concerned, according to names such as Bob Jain, it sold over 30 million units.

Yo-Yo - Not only has the Yo-Yo been popular among children, but teenagers and young adults have gotten in on the fun, learning tricks along the way. Since this toy's commercial release in the 1920s, it has become a popular item among many groups. While there are many people that are content with simply letting the toy drop before pulling it back up, others have mastered intricate tricks. To this day there are many Yo-Yo devotees that enjoy this toy.

Barbie - To say that Barbie is well-known would be something of an understatement. The original doll was unveiled in 1959 and the rest, as the cliche goes, is history. Multiple dolls have been released over the year, not only featuring unique outfits but different body types as well. The Barbie brand has branched out in other forms of media as well, film, television, and video games included. Simply put, Barbie has stood the test of time.
