The Varieties Of Printing Methods For Business Cards

By Helen Watson

Business card is a card type which holds certain information of an individual or company. Usually, the information includes the giver name, the logo and name of company, and as well as the contact information like contact numbers, addresses, websites, and email addresses. Other contact information may included such as social media addresses. Business cards before only are written in black text on white stocks, and now, different aspects of design and color are being used.

These are often made of card stocks. Card stocks are types of paper that is thicker and more durable than normal papers. There are some that are made of high quality but without have colored photographs are usually printed using spot colors. Most business cards Boca Raton usually are printed using spot colors. When logos are only created using one tint and it is applied to a type of different tint, the term for this is the two colored process. Since batch and digital printing are now popular, it maybe very cost effective when one prints it with full colors.

Cards with full colors are often printed in sheet fed presses and the most commonly used is the four color process which includes cyan, yellow, magenta, and black. These can also be coated with an offset UV printing or the UV glossy coat. This is often applied similar to an additional ink on sheet fed presses. This means that the UV coat can also be used as spot coating which also means that the areas may either be coated or not.

These may also be printed using a digital copier. A digital copier uses a toner combined to the card surface. But most of the printing firms nowadays are already using the newest technologies such as a high end digital press which is far different from the usual office copiers.

In Boca Raton FL, most offices there are facing problems when it comes to the printing of heavy weight of business cards stocks. A new digital press prints a heavy stock with up to 407 grams per square meter of its weight. It also prints materials which are substrate, especially those made out of polypropylene. The digital press may be bought in a sheet fed model or web fed model.

For a faster speed of cards manufacturing, UV coats and other types of coating such as aqueous coating is being used. A card which is not dry will possibly leave an offset of ink on its other side during printing. UV coatings are made highly glossy but may fingerprint. While the aqueous coating can be visible, it will still help increase the card life.

When designing, bleeds are being provided if the colors will extend outside from the edge of the product which is trimmed already. A bleed is a printing type that will go beyond the edges of sheets before trimming. These are given in order to ensure that papers are trimmed without white edges.

For Japanese people, they refer their business card as the meishi. The company name is located at the very top portion and it is printed as the largest. This is followed by the job title and name of individual. Other information like contact numbers and business addresses are also provided.

The information on one side is written in Japanese characters while the other side is often written in Latin characters. A meishi contains a QR code which makes it in a machine readable format. In Western world, presenting a meishi to another person became a ritual and formal thing.
