Illinois Arrest Records Free List Online

By Ben Kingsley

When a resident of Illinois is reported for any crimes, an arrest record is then created by the authorities. The state of Illinois has implemented the Freedom of Information Act. This act allows easy retrieval of the public arrest record Illinois issues to its residents.

Illinois arrest records are used by the residents when they look into the criminal background of an individual. Residents of the state would refer to this record when they wish to know more about the people around them. Parents are one of the people who regularly request for this file. They use it to check on the identity of the people that their children are seeing. Owners of businesses would now require job applicants to go through a series of background check. This is one way for them to know about the applicant as well as a way for them to filter their applicants. Even investigators and local authorities of the state would use this document during their investigation proceedings and in some cases it can help find the resolution to the case.

As the name suggest, the document would show information about where and when the individual was arrested. It would not be a useful document without the crimes that the individual has been reported for. Other information such as the details about the witnesses to the crime scene and the officer in charge of the case are not fully indicated on the public file. This is a way to protect the people involved.

The state of Illinois will only release a copy of an arrest record if the one who filed the request is the person himself. Other people can gain access to the files of other people by providing a special court order. To proceed with the search, one has to provide the basic details of the document of interest. One will also be required to provide their contact details during the retrieval process. By giving the required information, the search can be hastened.

The Bureau of Identification at the State Police Department of Illinois is the one that handles all of the criminal arrest of the state. One can conduct a fingerprint scan for only $20; however, this particular search method is not available for all. Only people who have the authority can do so, such as employers, companies, organizations and law enforcers. An ordinary name search is allowed for most of the residents of Illinois. This search method would cost only $16.

Requesting for a public arrest reports can now be done even without going to the Police Department of the state. This is possible with the help of the Internet. Online retrieval has made the process convenient and time saving for many. By doing the search through the Internet, results can be obtained in just seconds.
