Your schedule as a speaker or as an entrepreneur is one of the most important factors in creating a life of efficiency. Personally, I schedule everything. Everything includes assessment of transportation to the event and back home. Scheduling keeps you on task and keeps you moving. You able assess what you doing and what you wasting regarding time. As a result, the biggest time waster speakers and entrepreneurs do regularly isn't tracking their schedule.
When you do know what you spending time then you aware how much time you wasting unnecessary items events and people That is right; I said you might be wasting time on unnecessary items, events, and people. Be honest with yourself when you begin tracking your time. Note how many things take up your time. Note if these things don't make you money or even make you feel good to do them. If there's no reward at all and if your time can be better spent elsewhere than hire someone at ten bucks an hour to do it for you. Then, you can invest your time making money at a higher dollar level or for that matter hang out with friends and family doing things you love.
Let me give you an example of how I plan my time. To begin with, I was not kidding when I say I schedule everything and assess times to everything. Let us say it's a typical Friday night, and I have scheduled a trip to Costco at 7 o'clock because I have no social life. I plan by taking into account that it's going to take me 20 minutes to drive down there. By the time, I get the seven things that I need to get, collectively it is going to take me about 45 minutes to gather the items and go through the checkout. Then, I need to figure the 20 minute drive back. For that reason, I plan that schedule on the calendar.
By planning my schedule to the minute, I know how much time it will take to go there, get what I need and get home. I'm not wasting 2 hours in Costco that I don't need to be wasting shopping for things I don't need. If I get side tracked, I realize that I am cutting into my schedule and need to hurry up. Else, I know that I have to accommodate the rest of my evening plans. By doing this schedule on a regular basis, I realize I could make a maximum of three 6 minute calls on the way down to Costco and on the way back from Costco. By planning this way, I know I can knock out some calls off my list of people to call or call back.
Regardless of your industry whether it's public speaking, publicity, or plumbing, keeping track of your schedule allows you to avoid wasting time on unneeded, unproductive things in your life. This is particularly poignant because people are watching television or engaging on social media to excess. By tracking your time honestly, you can see how much you're spending on work, on a project, on social media, on socializing, on driving, exercise, as well as television. As soon you understand what you're doing when, then you can reassess your life to change the excuses you've been making for yourself. Therefore, you know that you're lying to yourself and other people when you say you don't have time because you now know what you're choosing to do with your time instead!
