Designing For A Golf Course Construction In The Backyard

By John Green

Golf courses are the grounds where in the golf game is being played. The grounds are comprised of many holes and each of it has a fairway, teeing ground, rough and some other hazards, and also green which has a pin or a flag stick and a hole cup. Golf has the standard round having 18 holes.

Usually, the courses would follow what the original landscape is but there are also some that has been modified. In some cases, new courses can now be found on lands that are less optimal. So if you are obsessed with golf and if you wanted to design one, the following steps can be very useful for the golf course construction.

Think first about the time and space amounts that are needed during the construction. Designing courses is difficult. Surely, you will be thinking of many ideas and you cannot avoid doubting some of those. Having some references like researching on the internet can help. So if you have chosen already your design and started doing the process, make sure that you can maintain it, because if you are doing a complex design, redoing it might be hard.

Next is considering the equipment and tools that are needed. There are 2 primary equipment which are needed and these include sand wedge or pitching wedge and putter. These 2 wedges are the only club types that can be used in the backyard. Multiple balls are needed as well in case of losses. A grass mower is also needed so that you can maintain easily the grass in order to make it nicer and shorter.

Decide on the type of course which you will be utilizing. If your land area is very wide, having par four or par five is suggested, only if the you can have an allotted time to do the maintenance. But for the backyards having average sizes, par three is suggested. If you design the land, be sure to check if it do have flat surfaces and are free from bumps, slopes, and hills.

Start mowing the fairway. One good suggestion for this process is mowing alternately each row, in this way, mowing can be neatly done and this will result to a striped style, and thus, achieving the real fairway. Usually, mowing may take up to three to four days but this will depend upon the backyard size.

Then start on mowing the green. When mowing the green, set the blades of the mower into its lowest setting to make the grass really short. Try on placing the green on a backyard surface that has the flattest area. It is recommended for greens to be mowed every two days. Do not connect green and fairway because a rough will be placed in between them.

Create either 2 or 3 sand traps or hazards. From the hardware store nearby, purchase two or three sand traps. The sand traps are going to be placed on the alongside of fairway and also in the front, in behind, or in the alongside of the green. These may not be really necessary, but these can make good touches and reputation into the course.

Lastly, do a regular maintenance of the course. In real courses, people are going to hire professional crews for the maintenance of their courses. But in your case, mowing every day is not needed, so just give time to check it, may be for about 15 to 20 minutes.
